FAQs

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files containing unique identification numbers that are transferred from a web site to the hard drive of your computer so that the site administrator may identify your computer and passively track its activities on the web site. This unique number identifies your web browser to our computer system. A cookie will not allow a web site to learn any personally identifiable information (such as your name and address) that you have not otherwise disclosed. Cookies allow us to automatically remember your computer’s web browser when you use our Services. The use of cookies is an industry standard, and they are currently used on most web sites. It is possible to adjust your web browser preferences to alert you when a cookie is sent to your hard drive, or to refuse cookies altogether. What are web beacons or pixels?

Web beacons, also known as clear GIFs or single-pixel GIFs, are small image files that we may provide to our advertiser and publisher clients, at their request, for them to place on their web pages. Working in conjunction with cookies, web beacons allow us to accurately count the number of unique users who have visited our advertisers’ or publishers’ web page, and/or viewed an advertisement and the number of times those ads are displayed. Our advertiser clients may also request a web beacon to place on their web page in order to identify a pool of users, using non-personally identifiable information, who have visited their web page so that they may target ads to those users about the advertiser’s products/services based on the visitor’s prior interest in those products/services. This information is only collected in aggregate form and will not be linked by Videology to any personal information. Additionally, our third-party advertisers may use web beacons in their advertisements. Finally, we may use web beacons in the advertisments we serve in conjunction with third party services we provide to our clients, such as measurement and analytics service providers that provide reporting on an advertising campaign’s effectiveness.
